The Online Therapy Institute in Second Life!

July 1st, 2008

Welcoming DeeAnna and Kate!

I’m very excited to be welcoming one of our new residents to the Islands of jokaydia! The Online Therapy Institute has just opened up on jokaydia II and is a very tranquil place to visit!

DeeAnna Merz Nagel aka DeeAnna Madfes in Second Life and I have created an office and virtual meeting space which will provide a Second Life base for the work that she is doing with Kate Anthony at the Online Therapy Institute in real life, where they explore online counseling and supervision and teaching and facilitating online counseling and supervision.

To quote their website:

The Insitute is designed for clinicians and organizations who wish to enrich their knowledge about online counseling, clinical supervision and the impact of technology on mental health. The Institute, founded by Kate Anthony and DeeAnna Merz Nagel is a think tank for all issues related to e-therapy.

You can also read DeeAnna’s blog post about the new space here - where she says:

So, now that Kate and DeeAnna have a place to perch inworld, we will be creating new ways to reach out to clients/consumers and professionals about online counseling! We plan to provide discussions and workshops to members on a regular basis after the completion of our book projects. So when you visit us, please join the Online Therapy Institute group!!

Welcome DeeAnna and Kate - I think your work in Second Life will be fascinating, and I can’t wait to read your upcoming books!!

Visit the Online Therapy Institute on the Islands of jokaydia to find out more!

Hi Jo, the site looks fantastic! Can’t wait to see how it all works out. This will be of great interest at TAFE and with other team members from an Innovations project I am currently working on with lecturers from Community Services (http://www.groups.edna.edu.au/course/view.php?id=1897). You’re a legend!
    Regards,Cheryl.
