April Festival on the Islands of jokaydia!
This month we are holding a series of events on the 19th and 20th of April! It’s a chance for jokaydia Community members and friends to get together to share and support each other…. and of course have some fun!
Saturday 19th April 2008
Virtual Classroom Meeting with Konrad March and Leroy Goalpost - Session 1
- When: Saturday 19th April, 9:30am AEST
(Fri 18th April, 4:30pm SL/PDT Time. Check your local time here!)- Where: Educator-in-residence Space on the Islands of jokaydia (SLurl)
- What: Meetup with Virtual Classroom Project Coordinator Konrad March and our first Educator-in-Residence Leroy Goalpost to discuss what they’ve been up to since the project launched a few weeks ago.
- Who: All jokaydia residents and visitors are welcome.
Newbie Tour: The Islands of jokaydia
- When: Saturday 19th April, 11:30am AEST
(Fri 18th April, 6:30pm SL/PDT Time. Check your local time here!)- Where: Meet at the jokaydia Landing Point for a guided tour of the Islands (SLurl).
- What: A tour of the Islands of jokaydia and an opportunity for newbies to meet with jokaydia residents for some support and assistance.
- Who: All jokaydia residents and educators who are new to Second Life are welcome.
jokaydia PhotoCompetition Party
- When: Saturday 19th April, 6:30pm AEST
(Sat 19th April, 1:30am SL/PDT Time. Check your local time here!)- Where: Meet at the jokaydia Art Gallery. (SLurl)
- What: A social event and announcement of our winning entries. Come and join us for virtual champagne and meet some of the artists who contributed their work to the exhibition. Prize winners will be announced at 7pm AEST.
- Who: All jokaydia residents and visitors are welcome.
Sunday 20th April 2008

jokaydia Community Meeting
- When: Sunday 20th April, 2:30pm AEST
(Sat 19th April, 9:30pm SL/PDT Time. Check your local time here!)- Where: jokaydia Beach (SLurl)
- What: All residents from the Islands of jokaydia are invited to join us for an update on jokaydian activities and discussions about our inworld unconference coming up in July.
- Who: jokaydia Residents are welcome.
- Note: Minutes of the meeting will be circulated to jokaydia residents who are unable to attend.
Newbie Support Session
- When: Sunday 20th April, 8:30pm AEST
(Sun 20th April, 3:30am SL/PDT Time. Check your local time here!)- Where: Newbie Gardens on the Islands of jokaydia (SLurl)
- What: Got a burning question? New to SL and looking for some tips? Need to figure out how to put your hair on straight!? Come along and meet residents from the Islands of jokaydia who will be available to give you some support and pointers.
- Who: All jokaydia residents and visitors are welcome.
Where?
All events will take place on the Islands of jokaydia in Second Life. (SLurl) .
To join the fun meet us at the jokaydia Landing Point or IM jokay Wollongong or Konrad March inworld! Everyone is welcome.

Although not required, if you would like to register your intention to attend you can do so via our Facebook Event page.
Lucky Teleport Prize
All visitors and participants who visit the Islands of jokaydia are eligible to enter the Lucky Teleport competition. Simply visit the jokaydia landing area between 9am AEST on Saturday 19th April and 9pm AEST on Sunday 20th April and submit your details for a chance to win!
Please Note:
- If you are new to Second Life, please ensure that you have tested your computer to ensure it meets technical requirements and is set up correctly.
- We will be using SL Voicechat tools for all events. Please ensure you have tested your headset and audio setup before attending events.
- Visit the Getting Started in Second Life resource for more info on how to prepare for the event.
