• jokaydia Head Office and Discussion Deck
  • jokay’s Wollongong’s office space and studio. Designed to allow for informal gatherings, workshops and meetings. This space also provides links and information to the Island of jokaydia’s online spaces.

  • The main arrival point for jokaydia. Includes calendar tools, venue and resident directories and regularly updated information about the activities and events on the Islands.

  • An Open Sim space which is designed to provide informal spaces for visitors to relax in. This space is always under construction, and provides jokay Wollongong with a flexible space to play with and explore the creation of immersive virtual spaces.

• 2008 Edublog Awards Display
  • A display of all nominess in the 2008 International Edublog Awards. jokaydia Will host the annual awards ceremony in Dec 08.

• Edusquare
  • Educational Resources and information for educators who are interested in exploring Second Life and other virtual worlds. Includes a holodeck tool to cater for a range of different style events.

• jokaydia Drum Circle
  • The drum circle includes a range of musical instruments created by Robbie Dingo. It is designed to provide a simple, immersive experience for visitors during workshops and tours, and is a great example of how shared experience and simple interactivity can impact learning effectively.

• jokaydia Newbie Garden
  • A space for newbies to learn and explore. The Newbie Garden includes a number of simple activies and resources designed to make those first few steps in Second Life a little bit easier!

  • A networking area, which provides links to blog and podcasts currently being published by the residents of the Islands of jokaydia!

• jokaydia Sandbox
  • A space for all visitors to build and explore Second Life’s built in user content creation tools. Feel free to try out your building skills here! Objects are cleared on a daily basis, so remember to save your masterpiece!

• jokaydia Sloodle Hut
  • A space for residents of the islands of jokaydia to explore the Sloodle toolset and ways it can be used to deliver content in Second Life.

• jokaydia Virtual Hairdressing Salon
  • A project for TAFE NSW undertaken in 2007. The Virtual Hairdressing Saloon explores ways that virtual worlds can be used in vocational education for modelling, communication and roleplays.

• jokaydia Virtual Presentation Platform
  • A collaboration between Sean FitzGerald aka Sean McDunnough and Jo Kay aka jokay Wollongong. The virtual Presentation Platform is designed to explore ways in which Second Life can be used as a presentation platform for both live and inworld events.

  • Bar jokaydia hosts parties, meetings and events and includes lots of virtual toys to play with. All visitors are welcome!

  • An amazing fairy castle, perfect for roleplays, parties and social events.

• The Dancers Garden
  • A beautiful garden designed to provide a home for ‘The Dancers’ - an amazing sculpture by jokaydia Artist-in-Residence Al Upton.

• jokaydia Art Gallery
  • Hosts a range of art exhibitions and events. Currently hosting the Australian Association of Environmentl Educator’s Conference exhibition - titled ‘Topophilia - love of land’.

• jokaydia Beach
  • An informal space to hang out - includes a comfy campfire and waves to surf!

• jokaydia Convention Centre
  • A large, formal presentation area designed for lectures, presentations and performances. The Conference Centre was launched for the 2008 Edublog Awards ceremony in December 2008.

• jokaydia Lighthouse
  • The lighthouse was the first structure erected on the Islands of jokaydia and features in much of our Island artwork. It provides an informal spot for a chat and a great view for virtual photographs!

• jokaydia Meeting Hall
  • A large flexible space which has been used to host a number of meetings and events. Includes information tools and flexible seating and staging options.

  • The jokaydia PD hut is a simple space designed for meetings and workshops. It includes rezzers to add seating and screens when required.

Project Spaces - supported by jokaydia

• The Pulsar Project Space
  • The project seeks to document and create Pulsar tools to enable educators conduct their activities using Second Life as a platform. The project is currently in its gestation stage. Contact marlonj Myers for more info.

• Second Classroom Project Space
  • Second Classroom is a project to explore ways in which educators can create projects for students using immersive media such as Second Life, MMORPG and social networks to create authentic learning. Contact slammed Aabye or Heyjude Jenns for more info.
