Here I am again – up all night at the TCC Online Conference.
I just attended a great session by Satoru Shinagawa from the University of Hawai’i, Kapi’olani Community College on the use of Podcasting to teach languages.
He talked fairly specifically about using Ipods and Ipod specific tools, but the ideas would be applicable across other mobile devices.
Most interesting were his ideas about using sound and pictures (with later generation Ipods) to show pictures for vocabulary that cannot be easily explained with audio descriptions.
Saturo provided some great examples that are available online. Check out the Quicktime movies here, here, here and here.
I’m really interested in learning languages online, so I’m looking forward to taking these ideas back to the Language teachers at the Illawarra Institute!
More soon!
