So its been a huge week or exploring and learning for us over at jokaydia@ReactionGrid, and I must say Im kinda exhausted, but  nonethless inspired!! 😉 So far we’ve seen a huge number of the jokaydians come to visit, and some have even got their own sims already.  The Australian invasion seems to be well and truly on, and I’m really glad to be a part new adventures.

As you can see from the image above, I’ve started the process of building out the new space, and will mimic some of the resources we have on jokaydia in Second Life, as well as a whole new collection of stuff to check as we start to get established. To get the ball rolling, I’ve imported some of the jokaydia Landing Point tools and furniture, and am modding it to suit the new space. Next up… newbie garden stuff!

Weekly EduMeets Officially Start This Week!

We’ve decided to start having a regular weekly EduMeet@jokaydia. These will alternate between our space on the Islands of jokaydia in Second Life and our space on the ReactionGrid, and are designed to provide a regular time for informal chats, adventures, sharing and playing. Come along – we’d love to see you in either grid! 😉

The first official EduMeet@jokaydia will happen this coming Sunday 11 October on ReactionGrid and will focus on playing and planning. We’ll take a little trip to explore the ReactionGrid neighbourhood, and also discuss some of the projects we’ve been brainstorming. Kyle G also tells me there’s a way cool Skype tool in ReactionGrid which we need to check out!

We also want to hear from you!? Have you got a burning idea, a resource suggestion, other feedback? Come along and share your thoughts!

Event Details: First Official EduMeet@jokaydia – 11 October 2009

Please feel free to email jokay Wollongong for further details and any of our events and proejcts, and keep your eye out for the 2nd EduMeet@jokaydia on the Islands of jokaydia in Second Life on 18 October.

Seeya in one of our worlds soon!

I’m in awe of your spirit and determination, Jokay. I’m sure wherever you go, a great community will follow.

  2. jokay Wollongong

Aww thanks Bettina! 😉 Appreciate your support and encouragement! 😉 Although not an experience I woulda chosen, the last week or so has been a huge learning opportunity for all of us, and I can feel the rumblings of new found inspiration and renewed energy amongst the jokaydia community. Onwards!

Looking forward to bumping into you and other educators on ReactionGrid! I’ll try and stop by on Sunday if I can make it up (I’m on CST).

Yay Jeff.. look forward to catching up with you inworld! 😉 We’ll try to fine tune times as we get to know everyone over @Reaction … so nobody has to be up at 2am too often! 😉

Wow! heaps of progress in a week. Excitement.

Keep up the great work. Everyone will be learning important extensions to the skillset.

wow, Bettina even commented here! i think this all goes to show what a huge player you are in virtual worlds. a true maven and it is such a shame that rather than help you grow, Linden Lab did what they did. i know i keep harping on that and i think it’s because it is so frustrating to see such loyal people do so much for Linden and then get treated this way

anyway, all this will turn out for the better. both myself and subquark have been looking at reaction grid and it seems like a better fit for education and eLearning than Second Life is. subquark was even asked to go help the Taiwan government setup their virtual world presence and i think your intro of Reaction Grid to us will now change his advice!

had your incident not happened, i would have never run across Reaction Grid (maybe now i can stop whining about Linden’s lack of appreciation)

so thank you for venturing out as an explorer for those of us feeling stuck, you are vastly important to the virtual world community and your reputation and passion has not been diminished by the recent past, but has created an even larger voice for you and a brighter light illuminating wonderful options for all of us

thank you Jokay (yeah, i know, i pour it on heavy, but it is from my heart and this stuff deeply affects me)

@Bruce.. yay.. thanks! We’re moving forwards with lotsa fun stuff. Reminded why I loved vws so much in the first place… learning!

@Ener Aww thanks so much! Your support and encouragement means lots (and subquark’s too!!) and it reminds me what an awesome network of people live and work in ReactionGrid, SL and virtual worlds beyond! I feel lucky to be part of it all, and I hope I contribute to our community just a little by helping to illuminate new adventures!

We really must get together for that virtual coffee soon! 😉
